Each Western begins with a motivation for revenge. In the scene above of The Searchers, John Wayne's Character rides home to find that it has been destroyed by the Comanche Indians (The enemy in Western Films).
Similarly, in Star Wars, Luke drives back to Lars homestead, only to find his aunt, uncle, and home destroyed by Stormtroopers, which then enticed Luke to join Obi-Wan on his mission (to save the princess) since he had nothing left for him there.
